SIGMA2 MGH: A study to understand the influence of common variation at SLC16A11 and other genes on the physiological response to a mixed meal tolerance test
SIGMA2 MGH will study whether different genes affect metabolism after a meal. As part of the study, participants will be asked to eat up to 2 meals and take a commonly used medication that also influences metabolism. We are seeking men and women over the age of 18 who are not taking diabetes medications. Participants will be asked to visit the hospital twice in seven days. The total time commitment is about 4 hours per visit. . Participants will receive monetary compensation, parking vouchers or reimbursement for public transportation and a free meal for each visit.
